CPR Training 2019

The pupils have been learning how to give life saving CPR through the Nation of Lifesavers training programme, which has been introduced to every secondary school throughout Scotland.   Each year, an estimated 50,000 pupils across Scotland will learn how to resuscitate someone having a cardiac arrest, following a campaign by the British Heart Foundation.

Statistics from the British Heart Foundation show that the survival rate for people in Scotland suffering a cardiac arrest out of hospital is 1 in 12 with approximately 3,500 Scots suffering an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest each year.  The chance of survival drops by up to 10% for each minute that passes without CPR and medics say thousands of lives could be saved by teaching more children how to resuscitate someone.
