YPI Final Runners Up 2019

Their task was to design a device that could be powered by a heat pump and talk about the science of how it worked, its benefits, uses of green energy and effects on society. The group chose a temperature controlled pram for new parents to ensure their baby was not too hot or cold. 

After presenting to their class of 30 pupils they were chosen as the best in the class and were to now present along with the 5 other winning class groups to some judges from Mitsubishi.

The group won the school final went on and would represent Whitburn Academy at the grand final at Howden Park. In the 3 weeks that followed the group did lots of work and lunchtimes and at home to ensure they gave the final their best shot.    

So on Tuesday 4th June the group along with winning groups from all 10 other schools in West Lothian presented to a packed and distinguished audience including Local Councillors, Consul General of Japan and the president of Mitsubishi Europe.

After giving a superb presentation they were voted runners-up and deserve many congratulations for this amazing achievement.
