P7 Transition Week Parent Information Evening
Details of the P7 Transition Week Parents Information Evening taking place on Wednesday 4th June.
Dear Parent/ Carer
I would like to take this opportunity to further update you on the plans and preparations this term for P7 to S1 transition. As part of our preparations to support your child's smooth transition to Whitburn Academy, we continue to work closely with our primary colleagues and carry out many of the plans outlined in my previous letter to you.
In school, P7 pupils will work through the 2025 transition booklet with their class teachers where they will learn about Whitburn Academy, school routines and the exciting challenges they will face.
This month our Pupil Support Teams schedule visits to the P7 pupils and guide them through the transition process, introducing them to key features of life at Whitburn Academy, outline the school values and answer any questions and concerns the pupils might have. Prior to this visit all P7's will be invited to complete an electronic survey so our staff can pick up on any anxieties and questions the pupils might have about their transition.
Our P7 transition days are scheduled to take place over 4 days from Tuesday 10th June - Friday 13th June. The pupils will follow their S1 timetable Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8.30am - 3.25pm and take part in a Sports Day on Friday from 8.30am - 12.15. Pupils will travel to and from Whitburn Academy on the school bus. Any questions regarding transport arrangements can be answered by our primary school colleagues.
We would like to invite parents/carers/p7 students to a P7 Transition Information Evening on 4th June 2025 6pm-7pm. This will give an insight into the upcoming Transition days.
I encourage all parents/carers and P7 pupils to look at our school website where there is a wealth of materials which will help everyone to familiarise themselves with the school and our staff.
We will continue to work closely with our primary school colleagues to support your child's transition to S1 and look forward to meeting them soon.
Yours sincerely
Mr G Rhodie
P7 Transitions Co-ordinator
