History is a subject that teaches pupils about events in the past, which have shaped the world we live in now. When you're trying to make sense of the world it helps to have an awareness of problems in the past. Terrorism, economic crises, racism, sexism, bigotry and genocide are not modern day inventions; they have existed worldwide for centuries. When we look at these problems, as they existed in the past, we can understand them better when they happen in our time.

A good pass grade in History can lead to careers in areas such as: Journalism, Law, Healthcare, Business / Finance and Teaching

Pupils who studied History have gained work in a wide variety of fields. Examples include: Marketing, I.T., Armed forces, Engineering, Hospitality / Catering, Creative arts, Childcare
